ALTA 2001 Call for Papers

5th Annual ALTA Conference

The 5th Annual African Language Teachers' Association (ALTA) Conference will be held on April 26-28, 2001 in Madison, WI. It is being co-sponsored by the National African Language Resource Center in conjunction with the Department of African Languages and Literature and the African Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. More details regarding the conference venue, possible hotel accommodations, and registration information will be made available in the coming weeks.

Theme of the Conference: "Professionalizing the Field: Initiative, Collaboration and Progress."
The organizers of the 5th Annual ALTA Conference would like to invite papers that address the conference theme, or any other topic related to African language pedagogy.

Co-Sponsors: National African Language Resource Center, the Department of African Languages and Literature and the African Studies Program, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Abstracts: Please send two copies of your abstract (one copy via e-mail and one hard copy), as well as the technology you would require to present the paper (such as an overhead projector, a computer with internet access, etc.), to the correspondence address given below. The abstract should be one page maximum, in a 12-point font. Submission by fax is not acceptable; e-mail submissions must be Microsoft Word file attachments of the length and formatting outlined above. If you do not have regular access to e-mail, you may instead submit one copy of your abstract on a 3 ½ inch floppy disk. Macintosh submissions are not acceptable. Submissions must include a list of the technology needed for your paper presentation. If no technology is needed for the presentation, please include a note to that effect with your submission.
