Story Excerpt:

spaceOnce, there was a boy, Salamone, whose father was dead. The boy mourned for him day after day, until at last his mother went to the chief and asked that the boy be put to death.

Commentary:

The society is tainted. Two of the members of the society who should be most protective, a mother and the political leader of the community, are determined to kill a boy because he is mourning the death of his father. So the story begins with a society out of joint.
