Voices
VOICES is a biannually published forum for exploring issues of written and
oral artistic production in Africa and the Diaspora in relation to the continent.
Submissions that stretch and challenge such disciplinary boundaries are
welcome and will be considered for publication.

What makes VOICES unique among other journals of African literary studies is its commitment to publishing work in all languages of Africa (as well as English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, German, etc.). So far we have published work in English, Portuguese, Swahili and Luo.

We invite submissions from writers world-wide. The journal has become an exciting forum for new work from established scholars in the field, graduate students and younger scholars, and creative writers from outside of the academy. Scholars from the U.S., Ireland, Germany, Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon and Angola have all contributed to VOICES.

Five issues of VOICES have appeared to date, Issue 1 in June 1999, Issue 2 in December 1999, Issue 3 in June 2000, Issue 4 in December 2001, and Issue 5 in May 2002.

Look for the sixth volume of VOICES coming soon.
